Robin D. Stone, LMHC
As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, I’m here to help you to reach your goals and dreams. But first, we meet. We take the time to get to know each other. We build trust. Then we work to uncover your strengths so you can step into your most optimal self.
I provide culturally astute therapy for Black women, their partners, and other people of color—including professionals and creatives seeking healing, self-care, and personal growth. I specialize in supporting anxiety, trauma, and stress management, and offer virtual and in-person (New York State-licensed) counseling to help you break generational cycles and prioritize mental wellness.
I hold a Master’s in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness from New York University, and a Master's in Health Arts & Sciences from Goddard College in Vermont. My approach integrates expressive arts modalities such as Biblio / Poetry Therapy, Transformative Language Arts, to explore how culture shapes identity, relationships, and emotional well-being, as well as navigate grief, trauma, stress, and complex couples or family dynamics. I am also trained in Brainspotting and certified in EMDR.
In addition, as a trained Health Coach, I guide clients in adopting practical, sustainable lifestyle strategies for wellness—and I love sharing nourishing, healthy recipes that support mind-body balance.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent over 25 years as a journalist and author writing and editing about health, food, and holistic living. My blog, “The Color of Wellness,” is featured on PsychologyToday.com. I received my journalism degree from Michigan State University, and enjoyed a successful career as an editor and writer for publications including The New York Times, The Boston Globe, The Detroit Free Press and Essence and Health magazines.
I am proud to be affiliated with Positive Psychology Associates, a collaborative of progressive therapists in Midtown Manhattan.
Today, I bring all of my experience, training, and passion to my practice, where I help clients grow, heal, and thrive. Book a consultation or session today. The best time to start? Now.
